English Language Requirements by Program
Admission to most Fanshawe College programs requires a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) as well as meeting the English requirements (if English is not a student’s first language). Test results must be within the last two years.

IELTS Academic
Overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands
CAEL
Overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands. Health programs and Practical Nursing require a score of 70 in writing, reading and speaking and a score of 80 in listening
PTE Academic
Academic: Minimum score of 53
Cambridge English Test
(FCE/CAE/CPE)
Overall score of 169 with no language skill less than 162
Fanshawe College
ESL4/GAP5
Minimum grade of 80% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 8, 75% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 9, or 70% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 10
HONOURS BACHELOR DEGREE AND GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
Requirements for Graduate Certificate programs and Honours Bachelor Degree programs will be higher than diploma programs.
STUDENT DIRECT STREAM (SDS) PROGRAM APPLICANTS
International students applying through the SDS Program from China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal and Vietnam should note that the SDS IELTS requirements are 6.0 with no score less than 6.0 in any of the four bands. For programs listing a higher IELTS requirement, the higher score will be required. Please note, there may be additional country-specific requirements.

The minimum requirements for admission to all post‑secondary programs is a high school diploma as well as other pre‑requisites, depending on the program. Admission requirements should be discussed with a representative of Fanshawe College. Post‑graduate programs require a College Diploma or University Degree or equivalent.
